Service Learning Update For week 4/25/08

Last week in our service learning group we talked about what things we might need to give to the homeless people. I made a suggestion that we should put some hygiene products into a Ziploc bag and pass it out to homeless people on the street. Mr. Ackerman was explaining to me that clothes, and food are nice but when he used to work in a homeless shelter a lot of people where coming up to him and saying, "I will do anything for some toothpaste" etc. Later on that day Mr. Ackerman took us to the place down the street where they make money at because we discussed how much money we needed to raise and he took us there for some encouragement. Service Learning>>>>UPDATE

Last week while we were at our service learning groups we talked about beautifying the school because the whole theme of the group is "School Beautification". We talked about putting a chair and table set outside of the school and put plants around the it to make it look "pretty". Also we talked about making lounges for the students and putting a television and games inside of it so that we can have a second option instead of going to lunch.

I want to work on the Leukemia project because that was my first choice, but now I think I am working on “Beautify The School” unless the Leukemia group have more openings.
