Revised Intro
Years before African Americans were granted their freedom we had to overcome many obstacles to get where we need to be today. For example, we had to sit at the back of the bus, woman couldn't vote or, attend certain schools like Little Rock Central High School during the 1957-1958 school year. It was like we were being raped of our own lifestyle just because of the color of our skin. Several woman went through it all like Rosa Parks, Sojourner Truth, but most importantly Elizabeth Ann Eckford. Growing up in a community where whites were told to desecrate African Americans were hard for Elizabeth because the school she attended was majority caucasian students. She was only fifteen years old at the time so imagine how she felt to know that the whole school was against her and wanted her out. She has inspired me to become a stronger African American male, and she has inspired me to have a higher quality in life. That's why i chose to write about Elizabeth Ann Eckford.
